Shotopop & JWT Shanghai win 2 CANNES LIONS

Shotopop recently teamed up with JWT Shanghai to take cardboard cut-outs to the next level.The project recently won us an Outdoor, as well as a Design Lion at the International Cannes Lions Awards.
We were asked to develop and build 3 pieces, made up from the cardboard of ANTA shoe-boxes, to represent 3 prominent Chinese Basketball players, sponsored by ANTA.

The “Chinese Beast”, Li Xiaoxu‘s playing style is fast, fearless and powerful. His sculpture, made up predominantly from elements of wings, feathers and lightning, shows exactly that.

With exceptional low post skills, Tang Zhengdong is an “Irremovable pillar in the sea“, which indicates an ancient Chinese proverb for hero. The spiral staircase of courts represents his rise in the CBA, from the young age of 16

Zhou Peng has already won 6 CBA Championships, represented by the golden stars on his sculpture. His relentless defences and explosive ferocity makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Utopia For SKY Magazine

We helped the nice people from SKY travel magazine to by illustrating their idea of Utopia. The city combines weather from Mexico,Vineyards from Cape Town, Culture from New York, cuisine from Rome and other bits and bobs from Ibiza, Tokyo, Stockholm, Helsinki and Amsterdam. Sounds like a nice place to live…

Blisters Blackout 2010

Shotopop was chosen as one of 40 artists to exhibit in this years Blisters Blackout Exhibition. Each one of the 40 artists produced 40 glow-in-the-dark posters which were on sale for £40 each. Here’s a few pics from the opening night of the show, which re-opens on the 21st of Dec in the East Gallery in Brick Lane. Be sure to pop by tor some last minute xmas shopping!

Lunch with Lapin!

Lapin was in London this week, and we were lucky enough to catch him for lunch today. Not 5 minutes into conversation, he whipped out his sketch pad and documented us! Here’s the pic he did of us. Thanks a lot Mr Lapin, we’ll hopefully see you in Barcelona soon!
